With over 25 years of international experience as a social worker and social work academic, I am currently working as a Senior Lecturer in Social Work at Liverpool Hope University.

I hold an undergraduate degree, an MA, and a PhD (2006) in Social Work from Hacettepe University. Between 1997 and 2017, I held academic positions at two Turkish universities, achieving the rank of Professor of Social Work in 2014.

My current global academic engagements include serving as an Honorary Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University in South Africa since 2023, and acting as a visiting scholar at Karaganda National Research University in Kazakhstan in May 2026. Additionally, I am also a member of the Core Curriculum Committee for Social Work Programs in Turkey.

Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in international social work governance. I served as the founding president of the Turkish Association of Schools of Social Work from 2016 to 2017, and have sat on the executive committees of the European Association of Schools of Social Work (EASSW, 2015–2019), IFSW Europe (2013–2015), and the Turkish Association of Social Workers (2005–2013).

I also maintain an extensive profile in academic publishing. I sit on the International Advisory Board of the Journal of European Social Work Research and am an editorial board member for Social Work Education: The International Journal. My editorial contributions in Turkey include serving as a founding editorial board member of Heybe: A Journal of Social Work and Social Policy, a member of the Academic Advisory Board for the Ankara University Health Sciences Journal, and the International Field Editor for social work at the Karya Journal of Health Sciences.

My research interests encompass child labor, child protection systems, social work values and ethics, and social work education. I have extensive experience working on national and international research projects funded by organizations such as the European Union (EU 7th Framework Programme, Marie Curie Actions), the World Bank, the UNICEF Turkey Office, and the UTZ/Rainforest Alliance.
